About Vince and Cherie Chenot Rose - James Jensen

My name is James Fredrick Jensen I am a Canadian that lived in Belize on the Island of San Pedro, this is another chapter of my Novella about the time that past after my Wife Janis Died in Central America.

This chapter is the beginning of the series called “About Vince and Cherie Chenot Rose”. Vince and Cherie Chenot Rose lived in Punta Gorda Belize a small town on the southern tip of Belize. The Rose’s owned a small resort and Crocodile Sanctuary named  ACES / American Crocodile Education Sanctuary.

I met the Rose’s on the Island of San Pedro two weeks after I had placed my wife Jan’s ashes into the Ocean as part of her services, more so it was Jan’s request to be cremated and set off to sea. Jan and I owned a small Liquor Store, sometimes bar, sometimes wholesale business called the Liquor Box.

The owner of the San Pedro Sun Newspaper Tamara Sniffen had read at Jan’s service. Tamara called me a lot after Jan passed. This day was about the famed croc hunters were coming to the Island of San Pedro from Punts Gorda there home base. Tamara insisted I meet this young couple as she was a huge fan of there Crocodile Sanctuary.

At first glance at these Croc Hunters they kind looked like they came right out of Central Casting. Vince Rose is a tall slender handsome man. Having that kind of out door appeal some woman like. Cherie Chenot Rose mousy Blonde average. Tamara handled the introductions which then found me asking hundreds of questions about why they were at this lagoon on the Island of San Pedro.

As Vince explained to me a Crocodile had some how became land locked in this residential lagoon. Residence had been feeding the crocodile and the locals were concerned someone would get hurt. The Roses were called in by someone to trap this crocodile and take it to there Sanctuary in Punta Gorda.

For 5 days crowds grew watching the croc hunters stock this crocodile, set traps, move traps, run around this lagoon. Tamara was interested and I would often stop by and rubber neck with the rest of the Island watching this game of Vince and Croc go on.

What happened amazed me and surprised me all in different events that follow.

On Sunday morning my cell phone lit up txt messages they caught the Croc. Like the rest of San Pedro I bolted to the seen of the croc capture. As did all of San Pedro. Tamara from the San Pedro Sun was on the scene with her reporters camera firing away.

Having status with the San Pedro Sun Tamara whisked me into the capture area only to find this croc wrapped up like a Sushi role in nets and such used to capture the beast. That is the amazed me part that they actually captured this croc. Now for the surprise part. The Rose’s Vince and Cherie had no resources or plan of how to move this croc from the scene of the Capture to a boat which they did not have to Belize City from the Island of San Pedro.

Tamara looked at me, I made some phone calls, a truck showed up with men, Roberto a boat captain showed up. Within a split second I was now in the Crocodile after capture transport business. I paid for the costs I felt sorry for the Roses and they had this resort thing.

Before the Croc was loaded on the Boat I took the Vince and Cherie to the Liquor Box to get a case of beer for the trip from San Pedro to Belize. That is when Cherie told me she always wanted to own or open a Liquor Store in Punta Gorda. Jan and I had looked at expanding our Liquor business from San Pedro.

I dropped the Roses at the boat with there Crocodile and a case of Beer. They invited me to Punta Gorda. I decided to say yes I needed to get away from San Pedro with everyone on the Island still feeling the shock of Jan’s death.
