Corruption in Belize | The John McAfee Story

My name is James Fredrick Jensen I am a Canadian that lived in Belize on the Island of San Pedro, this is another chapter of my Novella about the time that past after my Wife Janis Died in Central America.

Over the months our blogs have pointed at various levels of Corruption in Belize as it directly related my specific case. Then John McAfee suddenly was a person interest in a Murder case in Belize. Considering my experiences in Belize I had interest to see John get out of the Country. It cost me $100,000 for my freedom.

I met McAfee shortly after his move to Belize. My driver in Belize City Tommy was John’s driver. John used Tommy for all his road travel throughout Belize. While John McAfee was in the Guatemala Immigration detention in Guatemala City John and I e-mailed back and forth. A story the world media followed with great interest. While Belize more or less sat on there hands and watched this media event around McAfee.

Guatemala sent McAfee packing back to the US Miami in particular, another media event in Miami as McAfee landed and was safe from Belize back in the US.

Over Christmas and new years John McAfee was quiet, the world media cooled down and as a New Years gift to the Media McAfee told the world he was about to reveal to the world his investigation into the corruption John so feared in Belize. John I was disappointed with this announcement of “John McAfee Pimped Out 29 ‘Pillow Talk Masters’ to Spy on Belize: Here’s What He Found” Okay as we have seen no one took the bate or covered the story.

While John was in the Guatemalan Immigration Detention Center I e-mailed John very specific details about the corruption level in Belize which included in my case, phone numbers, bank information. Having lived in Belize one learns to either get along or get out.

The facts, in my series of Blogs will offer readers a view of how Belize Corruption works.

In Belize City a man known as the Expeditor

In Belize if you do not have a work visa or other residence status every three months you need your passport stamped. A hassle like most I used Ruben he would come to San Pedro take the passport and others and go to the Capital in Belize to the head of Immigration and get your stamps updated. Once my work Visa was approved I had no need as I had legal status. That said when I fled Belize Rubin took me to a place in Souther Belize were in my Passport was stamped leaving and then entering Honduras.

Something John McAfee should have attempted. Ruben took care of John McAfee as Belize’s latest millionaire in country 1 month,  John McAfee is a resident.

Ruben explained to the extent of his services. He took a prisoner out of Honduras took this person to Belize, new passport and safe passage to Panama.

Ruben 601 3265 he wants to leave Belize back to his homeland Guatemala.

How far reaching is the corruption within Belize Immigration, far reaching, well understood, but never reported. Take for example the San Pedro Sun Newspaper publisher Tamara Sniffen. Tamara knows full well that many Ruben’s exist in Belize it is part of business, not Belize Corruption.

In my time in San Pedro I new the head of Immigration for the Island well, his name was Sheldon a giant of a man. Most disliked Sheldon if your were the ones in need of getting your passport stamp the office would have strange houses and you stood outside in the heat. The new building is better. Sheldon ran a clean ship which was as best he could do under the corruption around him.

When I returned from my visit at Hattieville Prison to San Pedro. I saw Sheldon on a street within days. We stopped and talked he told me I do not believe what they were saying about me. About that time a reporter from the San Pedro Sun Newspaper showed up and asked Sheldon if I was being arrested. Sheldon barked back I am talking to my friend get out of here.
 
Like all go things Sheldon’s failure to work within the Belize Immigration Corruption he was moved on.
