My name is James Fredrick Jensen I am a Canadian that lived in Belize on the Island of San Pedro, this chapter of my Novella about the time that past after my Wife Janis Died in Central America.
My wife Janis died as a direct result of a brain aneurism caused by a deformation of blood vessels in her brain. While Janis did receive care at Belize Health Partners in Belize city insurance coverage was denied by Bupa Insurance Company.RF&G Insurance of Belize part of the The Roe Group of Companies in Belize sold Janis and I the Bupa Health Insurance plan. The RF&G Insurance insurance rep had visited Janis and I a number of times on the Island of San Pedro in Belize to explain in detail the insurance package offered by Bupa Insurance out of Miami Florida. We purchases the Bupa Insurance Package through RF&G Insurance of Belize City. When Janis became ill as instructed in our insurance package we made attempts to all Bupa Insurance 800 number. When I did get through I was told by the Bupa customer service rep that the number I had on my card was not in the system. The insurance card was issued by RF&G Insurance. I called RF&G and after some time they explained to me that they RF&G were new to selling Bupa Health Insurance and that they would contact Bupa.RF&G did contact Bupa in Florida and I made contact to notify Bupa of the events that had happened to my wife. Within 24 hours of that call Bupa through RF&G notified me that all coverage for my wife Janis was denied. I sat down with the doctor who had treated Jan at Belize Health Partners. Behind closed doors the doctor explained that RF&G Insurance was requesting he make a medical opinion of the cause of my wife Janis condition. He felt that was premature and was concerned anything hesitated at this time would for sure end any possibility of negotiating with Bupa and RG&G about Janis health insurance. In my State of panic I called my attorney in the US Robert P. Martin of Bailey & Wyant a law firm in West Virginia. Martin then contacted Bupa Insurance in Miami in an attempt to have this insurance coverage re instated. The Manager of our case suddenly was gone on a 3 week planned vacation and no one else at Bupa Insurance could offer any Assistance. My attorney Robert P. Martin then contact RF&G Insurance in Belize attempting to have them place pressure on Bupa in Miami.RF&G Insurance position was that they RF&G were an agent for Bupa Health Insurance and as such had limited power and influence over having any decision of Bupa changed to cover Janis Health Insurance. My wife Janis died. I was taken to Civil Court in Belize for the amount of the insurance coverage not covered by Bupa Health Insurance for an amount owed Belize Health Partners in excess of $200,000.
