The Roses, claimed they were in Northern Belize rescuing crocs at the time of the incident, are not suspects in the case. Despite written testimony naming the perpetrators and video and still photography of the men at their home on that day, no charges have been pressed in the burning of their home and property.
The Roses have also not been compensated for their losses which include almost all their personal possessions and the home that Vince built himself in the Belizean bush. Currently, Roses are suing the Belizean Minster of Finance under the Belize Riots Compensation Act for recovery of their losses. The outcome of that case will be determined on May 24 and 25.
Feelings are still run raw. Vince, who called the villagers "savages" in the media, is still angry at them. For their part, villagers still call periodically threatening to "take care" of the Roses.
Cherie says she has forgiven them and prays every day for the recovery of the children. Her anger is directed more at the officials who have done little or nothing for either side of the case. According to Cherie, the U.S. Embassy has been entirely unresponsive and the official Belizean action on direct evidence of arson and theft has been minimal at best.
The Roses claimed on the CNN reports that they were now homeless after the fire in Punta Gorda. The truth is they had a home in San Pedro in Belize.
Sympathy rang out this act on the Roses. I do not share that feeling of Sympathy for Vince and Cherie Chenot Rose hard to have any Sympathy for the people that took $37,000 from James Jensen.
Yet Cherie Chenot Rose continues to ask for foolish donations from those that feel there donations to Beed Belize Economic & Ecological Development Fund will be well spent to protect crocodiles in Belize.
