Tamara Sniffin: Editor of The San Pedro Sun Newspaper Belize

Tamara Sniffin, publisher/editor of The San Pedro Sun Belize has over the years done an amazingly one-sided job of covering the goings-on at the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary (ACES).  In fact, she's covered every sneeze, whim and piece of propaganda ACES owners Vincent and Cherie Chenot-Rose have had on offer.

For example, in an August 17 post, The San Pedro Sun reported on an interview with the Roses about their successful lawsuit against the government of Belize for the mob-fire that destroyed their croc compound and home.  She does not report that they asked for $900 K in compensation, a sum that's really out there given the land value and whatever else. (Courts based on British tradition are not big on pain and suffering compensation, by the way).  The Belize Supreme Court continues its deliberations on the amount of compensation that will be awarded and a decision is expected in December.

I wonder if/when the award is determined and distributed to the Roses if Sniffin will report on the investigation and apprehension of this American couple by the IRS if they fail to report their gains to Uncle Sam.  He's already cheesed at them for years of income tax "misunderstandings."

They also operated their Belize-based croc foundation for years without benefit of a proper charitable organization tax status and donators should be wondering what happened to all the croc cash that's gone into the Roses' enterprises.  Of course, this was never reported in The Sun.

This is the same Sniffin who posted a 2009 story about James Frederick Jensen when he was wrongfully accused by the Roses of swindle and, as a consequence, unfairly remanded to Hattieville Prison.

Posing as a news article, the story she wrote and published was an editorial indictment of James, condemning him in advance of formal charges and trial.  In that article she appointed herself prosecution, judge and jury in the case.

Similarly, she's crowned herself Press Fairy Godmother to the Roses, lovingly reporting on their court victory in her best gringo-centric style, noting only in passing that the two Rash children, whose disappearance sparked the episode, are still missing.

Finally, for all her "even-handed" reporting and support of the Roses, Cherie Chenot-Rose anointed Sniffin with praise for her long-standing devotion.  This is from a YouTube dedication from Cherie Chenot Rose to Editor-in-Chief Tamara Sniffin:

"This is dedicated to my bestest friend in the whole World, Tamara Sniffin. Although at times I 'SNAP' like a crocodile, she still loves me unconditionally, as I do her. I respect her work and truly without her, I, nor ACES, wouldn't be where we are today. Thank you T! I love you and am thankful that you are in my life."

This is part of Diana Bond's ongoing series to correct the Belize story about James Fredrick Jensen, a friend of the Organization for Responsible Tourism.
