Vivian Trill - John McAfee
John McAfee is right to fear for his life should he give himself up to the corrupt Belize government. The Dean Barrow government has a solidly rancid record when it comes to protecting the innocent or the guilty once anyone accused of anything comes into its justice system. My comments here have nothing to do with the guilt or innocence of McAfee. However, we do join McAfee in urging American and other international news media to investigate corruption in Belize. It is rampant and unassailable under the current regime. The Organization for Responsible Tourism urges international media to investigate Belize government corruption. Not only because of our fight against Belize's role as a superhighway for human trafficking, but also because McAfee, has a right to protection and justice under the Rule of Law. I can tell you that anyone who is "a person of interest" to the Belize police is not "bonkers" for fearing that he will simply "disappear" or be killed once he becomes a "guest" of the state, particularly someone like McAfee, who, for whatever reason, has gotten up the nose of the Belize government. Friend of the Organization for Responsible Tourism, James Fredrick Jensen, knows first hand the danger of not paying the right people, of being set up and then enduring remand in Hattieville Prison, all on trumped up charges that were later dismissed. His life is in danger, still hunted by people the Belize government continues to help. Belize Prime Minster Dean Barrow should "man up" and let international media have a look at the level of transparency in his government to see if he in fact respects his own laws.
